Term: | Translating a Hungarian Folk Song text | |
Hello, I am a Canadian choral conductor, and I would like to program Zoltán Kodály's arrangement of the following text, but I would like to know what the text means before I present it to the choir. I've tried using online translators, but they don't really capture the correct syntax or grammatical structure, so I'm a bit confused. The text is as follows: Még azt mondják: nem illik a tánc a magyarnak! Nem, ha néki cipellőt, bőnadrágot varrnak. De sarkantyús csizmának, kócsagtollas főnek, illik gyöngyös pártának, magyar főkötőnek. I would very much appreciate your input. Thanks!! :) |
